National Science Day.

National Science Day was observed by the Department of Computer Applications on 28th February 2024 to mark the discovery of the Raman effect in 1928 by Indian Physicist Sri Krishna Raman. This event, organised on account of National Science Day for the students was led by the faculties of the Department of Computer Applications of our college. The celebration included speeches,quiz.

The state level technical symposium SPARK ' 23 organized by the Department of Computer Applications of Don Bosco College of Arts and Science, Keela Eral was held on Thursday, 21st of September 2023. Every aspect of the event, from its inception to the execution had been the outcome of the culminated efforts of the faculty and students of the department. We released a Magazine "10 years of Excellent Service/ Excellence in Service". Mr. Alwin Rex, President of Win - R Association delivered welcome Address. This symposium witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 128 students in over 5 events that tested their wits and abilities. The Overall Trophy won by Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli. The vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Arone, Member of Win - R Association.

DON BOSCO COLLEGE OFARTS AND SCIENCE DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS ASSOCIATION REPORT – 2023 WIN R Association of our department enables the students to meet the challenges of today’s competitive world by giving exposure to possible avenues. Eminent resource persons are invited to share their real life experiences and the students are able to interact with them. The associations conducted a seminar. Along with academics, students are given platforms to showcase their talents and opportunities to develop various skills like organizing, communication, public relations. The Department of Computer Applications, WIN-R Association Inauguration was held on 20th July 2023 at 11.30a.m.at Audio Visual Hall. The Inauguration started with Prayer Song followed by Thamizthai Vazhthu. Rev. Dr. S. Victor Antonyraj, Secretary Don Bosco College of Arts and Science, Keela Eral gave the Presidential Address. DR.A.GOPI KANNAN M.Sc.,Ph.D, Assistant Professor and Head, G.VENKATASWAMY NAIDU COLLEGE, KOVILPATTI was The Chief Guest. Ms.Vinisha, Member of WIN- R Association, Department of Computer Applications introduced the Chief Guest Dr. A. GOPI KANNAN. He gave a talk on the vital role of Internet of Things in various areas of research, the job opportunities and the importance of Internet of Things subject. He encouraged and motivated the students. The vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Kamal Ranjith, III BCA. The function ended up with National Anthem.

DON BOSCO COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS FRESHER’S DAY CELEBRATION REPORT DATE: 19th July 2023 VENUE: III BCA, Don Bosco College. TIME: 2:00 P.M . The purpose of Fresher’s Party is to welcome new students in a friendly atmosphere and to encourage their creative impulses to boost their confidence. It is the day where seniors and juniors finally bond and unite to celebrate being part of the college. Students of First Year (batch: 2023-24)- II and III year students were welcomed with the red rose to this party which was organized by Student’s Council of WIN – R Association, Department of Computer Applications in the III BCA Classroom at 2.00P.M. The program started with Prayer song and inaugural speech by Honorable Secretary, Rev. Dr. S. Victor Antonyraj and followed by the President’s speech for the fresher’s. The program was hosted by Mr. Ramar, student from Final Year BCA. The cake was cut by the Fresher, the HOD of BCA department, President, and the Class Representatives of the each batch. Fresher’s along with their seniors got chance to showcase their talent by small games were organized to make the function more tricky and fun! The audiences enjoyed the fun games and they encouraged the participants by making hooding sounds. There was a tough competition among the fresher’s as they all were amazing! The event was finally concluded with vote of thanks by Mr. Arone, I -BCA. Refreshments were served in after the program.

DON BOSCO COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2023-2024 The Investiture Ceremony was held on 20th July 2023 at A. V. Hall to encourage and kindle leadership qualities in our young prodigies. The Office Bearers for the session 2023-24 was formed. Students were chosen for the WIN –R Association, Department of Applications. The Investiture Ceremony 2023-24 successfully inducted the newly elected and selected members of the Department prefectorial board on 20th July 2023. The ceremony started by lighting the lamp which signifies the removal of darkness and continuous upward movement of the flame denotes a path of wisdom and divinity. Newly formed Office Bearers – President, Vice – President, Secretary, Treasurer and four members from were honoured by our respected Secretary, Rev. Dr. S. Victor Antony Raj along with the Chief Guest, DR.A.GOPI KANNAN M.Sc.,Ph.D, Assistant Professor and Head, G.VENKATASWAMY NAIDU COLLEGE, KOVILPATTI and the Chairperson, Prof. V. Parvatha announced the names of the appointees who would take into their hands the reigns of responsibility. The Head and Assistant Professor Dr. M. Sivasankari administered the oath of allegiance to the newly appointed Board of Students’ Council, who swore to serve their Alma Mater with utmost sincerity and to the best of their abilities. Dr. S. Alexander Suresh, DBCA Director motivated the students and blessed them with her golden views which would help the students to make their vision clear for the achievement of their goal by performing their duties with full dedication. He then congratulated the newly elected Office Bearers.He reminded them that they are the torch bearers of all the values that the Department stands for and urged them to take responsibility with commitment and integrity. The proud parents’ happiness knew no bounds when badges and sashes were conferred on the newly elected Students’ Council. The zeal of the Office Bearers was reflected in their confidence and dedication to execute their work. The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks presented by the student Mr. Kamal Ranjith. The Department of Computer Applications without doubt believes in its young leaders to protect and consolidate the values and ideals its staffs and students stand for. We express our gratitude to our revered Principal, Dr. R. D. Thilaga Ma’am for her sheer perseverance to help students comprehend the rich legacy of our nation and for her constant encouragement to attain excellence in all arenas of education.

DON BOSCO COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS A REPORT ON INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION International Yoga Day is observed every year on 21st June in order to raise awareness about this ancient practice and to celebrate the physical and spiritual prowess that yoga has brought to the world. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice. It plays an important role in relaxing the mind and body and boosting people’s immune system. We at The Don Bosco College of Arts and Science – Department of Computer Applications, celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21st, 2023, with great enthusiasm. A special activity was conducted for the students by our Dr. M. Sivasankari Instructor. The Students of BCA had their Yoga session was 45 mins. Dr. M. Sivasankari demonstrated some simple and beginner, standing and sitting asanas which were performed by the students. The benefits of the postures were narrated by the staff Prof. V. Parvatha side by side as students performed with the instructions. All the students participated eagerly by following the instructions. Below are the different asanas that were performed by the students. • Bhujangasana Or Cobra Stretch Pose • Padmasana or Lotus Position Pose • Parshvottanasana or Intense Side Stretch Pose • Tadasana or Mountain Pose • Vrikshasana or Tree Pose • Surya Namaskar or Sun Salutation Pose • Sarvangasana or Shoulder Stand Pose. The celebration concluded with some breathing techniques and the students were encouraged to practice regular yoga to remain fit as they showcased a very energetic and spirited performance. Overall Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm.

Department of Mathematics and Department of Computer Applications has has jointly organized a guest lecture program on 27 th February 2023 at AV Hall from 2.00 pm to 3:30 pm. Dr. Bala Deepa Arasi, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, APC Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi was invited as a Chief Guest. Udhaya Sankari, II BCA was the Master of Ceremony on that day. The meeting was started with a Prayer song (an invocation). S. Iruthaya Praveen, III B.Sc Mathematics welcomed the gathering. A. Antony Sharmila, III B Sc Mathematics introduced the speaker of the session. Rev. Dr. Victor Antonyraj, Secretary, DBCAS has presided over the function. Dr. R. D. Thilaga, Principal, DBCAS has felicitated the gathering. The chief guest delivered a talk entitled “Application of Math in Every Day Life”. S. Micheal Sugirtha, II B.Sc Mathematics proposed the vote of thanks. Finally, the meeting was ended with National Anthem.

The chief guest delivered a talk entitled “Science for a Sustainable Future”. Following this a quiz competition was conducted. Prof. S. Krishnaveni and Prof. Mumtha were the quiz masters. The Department of Computer Applications WIN – R Association Inauguration was held on 29 th October 2021, in the college premises at Auditorium.The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. K. Joy Alfia, Assistant Professor of MCA,St. Xavier’sCollege, Palayamkottai. The event was formally inaugurated by lighting of Kuthuvilakku by the chief guest in the presence of Secretary, Principal, HOD and staff members of BCA, Mr. Sathya Narayana of III BCA welcomed the gathering. Mr. G. Abishek introduced the chief guest. The inaugural speech was given by Dr. Victor Antonyraj, Secretary of our College gave a scintillating speech. He advised the students to utilize the association to develop their skills. The felicitation address was given by Dr. A. S. Joseph Charles, Principal of our College. He advised the students to utilize the association to develop their skills. The following students were selected for BCA Department office bearers for the academic year 2021 -2022. Four Students from our department were elected to office bearers  Mr. B. Madhan Kumar as President  Ms. G. Bhavani as vice President  Mr. S. Sharon as Secretary  Mr. G. Abishek as Treasurer. The Chief guest Dr. K. Joy Alfia started her discussion with the concepts of “Enormous Growth of Information Technology after Pandemic”to help achieve students who are facing the challenges in the industry.she enlighten the minds of the young hearts by delivering the speech based on the importance of technology and its value in our day today life and also the applications in research field in the emerging world. Ms. Kavitha, a final year of BCA proposed vote of thanks.
