The Department of English inaugurated its association,BELA (Bosco English Literary Association) for the academic year 2019- 2020 on 26th July 2019. Dr. G.M Joseph Dunston, the Chief Guest of the day talked about the essence of literature and the office bearers were introduced.


The Department of English organized a Library visit exclusively for the Third year students. On 21stAugust, 2019 Third year students (46) along with two faculty went to Madurai Kamaraj University Library.Students were explained about library usage and Infonet.


The Department of English organized a Guest lecture for the students.                   Dr. B. Manivannan, Head and Associate Professor in V.O.Chidambaram College was invited as the chief guest and delivered a lecture on Why Literature?


Department of English conducted Inter-Departmental Competitions named Grammarian Award on 15th and 16th of September 2019. Each department consists of three participants and totally 18 participants were participated. Bro. Navin and Ms. Mayer baby (Auxilium School) were invited as judges. Over all trophy was won by the Department of Mathematics, and Runner Trophy was won by the Department of English.


The Department of English had taken our II B.A students for Extension activity to Tharuvaikulam for three days from 12.12.2019 to 14.12.2019. Our agenda is to promote awareness on cleanliness and plastic free environment. Students performed rally, cultural programs to create awareness and taught spoken English skills to school students.


Department of English organized an intra-departmental literary competition on 13th January 2020. The competitions were conducted in two stages, onstage and off stage. Dr. Christy Paulina (Head,Pope`s college)Prof. N. Bala Sarasvathi, Prof. Aswini. J from Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi were invited as chief guests and they served as the judges for the competitions.


Department of English organised a National Seminar on Indian Writing in English in the Post Independent Era on19th February 2020. Dr. U.Fathima Farzana,Assistant Professor in English,Sri Ramasamy Naidu Memorial College, Sattur was invited as the resource person. More than 150 papers were presented in the seminar.
